The Boston Bulldogs organization is proud to announce that four of their former players have attended either NHL or AHL preseason camp this year. All four players have very high expectations for playing in the National Hockey League.
Joe Callahan, a Yale grad from Centerville, MA, played three years at right defense in college and has been attending the New York Islanders training camp. Since college, he has been playing in the AHL for five years. His last season was with the Portland Pirates where he tallied 24 points in the regular season and 11 in the playoffs.
Two former Bulldogs by the names of Dave Caruso and Matt Torti have been working hard within the New Jersey Devils organization. Caruso was a goaltender at Ohio State University and has been at NHL camp for the past few weeks. Last season he got some playing time with the Lowell Devils and has been assigned to Lowell again for this upcoming season.
Matt Torti has also signed with the New Jersey Devils. This former Bulldog was the captain at Colgate last year at the right defensive position.
Former Carolina Hurricane, David Gove, has reported to Pittsburgh Penguin training camp. He is a left winger who graduated from Central Michigan in 2001. His senior year he was a nominee for the Hobey Baker award. Gove has been through several AHL affiliates along with winning a Stanley Cup ring in 2007 with the Carolina Hurricanes.
We have contacted these players and will give you live updates as we get closer to the NHL season. Each week we will check in on their status and track each player as they continue to move along the difficult career path to the “Show.”
