Milstead_action The Bulldogs were off to Laconia, NH to play against the Leafs on Saturday night.

It did not take long for the Bulldogs to get on the scoreboard as Nick Barbera scored on a pass from Cody Gut at the 2:15 mark of the 1st period; it was a power play goal. Ten minutes later Eric Steinour scored on a pass from from Nick Zappia and Chris Lewis and the Bulldogs were off and running.

Early in the second period Tucker Mullin made the lead grow to 3-0 as he scored a power play goal assisted by Barbera and Ryan Smith. Then as the period was drawing to a close and Laconia was building some momentum, Elijah Cohen scored from Steve Weston and the Bulldogs built on their lead.

In the third period Laconia broke the shutout as on a 5-3 they scored. Derek Kump finished the game with 15 saves and the win. Sam Avoine had 47 saves in the losing effort.

The team headed home to play the Hartford Wolfpack for the 4th time this season. This is the first meeting of the two teams at the Icenter. These games have been very physical and well played each time so the crowd was looking for an exciting game. They were not disappointed in the level of play or intensity of the game.

Hartford jumped out in front on the Bulldogs at the 8-minute mark of the 1st period. The goal came off a pile up in front and the loose puck found its way to a Hartford stick. The period ended with Bulldogs carrying the play but not on the scoreboard. A late penalty let Hartford start on the power play and it took them only 28 seconds to make it 2-0. The Bulldogs carried the play for the remainder of the period then at the 15-minute mark Tucker Mullin scored on the power play from Trey Milstead and Ryan Smith that cut the lead in half as the period ended the Bulldogs were carrying the play and peppering goalie Tyler Reid. The third period was fast paced and exciting hockey but Reid could not be beat he finished the game with 33 saves and a win for Hartford. Derek Kump has 21 saves for the Bulldogs.

Next week the Bulldogs head down to Walpole MA to take on the Walpole Express on Friday and then play Portland Pirates in Saco Me on Sunday. Mark your calendars as the Northeast Hockey Showcase is coming the weekend of November 28, 29, and 30th at the Cyclones arena in Hudson, NH. This is the 3rd of 4 Showcases for the AJHL and hosted by the Boston Bulldogs.
